I don't get to tell you what rape is...

You don't get to tell a Negro what racist is.

Are we clear?

I'm trying to take that perspective close to heart, myself, so y'all let me know if I am strayin'. Taking that principle -- it pretty much tells you straight. The Clinton campaign was Racist, and the Obama campaign was sexist. You want to whitewash that, tone it down? Be my guest.

But please, people, remember the rules. If you step on someone, by saying that they don't know what something offensive is, and you ain't even in their fucking in-group -- that's you, Mr. WASP-on-the-outside. Yer damn fucking right people gonna be pissed.

Yes, for anyone who might be wondering, I do expect this to turn into a flamefight. Not that there's any reason to, mind. But... Hell, I found a new blog, and they linked to this:

http://clintonattacksobama.pbwiki.com/In cident+Tracker

Help me out, Clintonistas -- where's the reverse for Clinton?

I figure people ought to get ahold of themselves, take a good few steps back, and look at the big picture. And, no, this diary ain't what we call 'productive' -- so of course it will be the only one of mine to make the rec list.

[disc: yeah, I am female. no, i've never been raped. leave definitions to the victims, they know them better than you do!]

On second thought. I'll eat 'em myself

Sorry, but if you are unable to recognize the fact that people other than African Americans are victims of racism, you are in no position to lecture anyone on racism.

Re: I don't get to tell you what rape is... (none / 0)

Do you have my supply of race cards?  Because while you get to allege racism, only whites get to allege the race card has been played, which, in case you haven't noticed, negates your racism charge and totally takes away your claim to victimhood.  Kinda neat how that works isn't it?

by niksder on Wed Aug 06, 2008 at 02:58:35 PM EST

I don't get to allege racism (2.00 / 1)

'cause I'm white. ;-)

I don't particularly like the idea of 'race card having been played' in case you haven't noticed.

Is this what you do... (none / 0)

when you want to think of yourself as cleaver?  Not only did you miss that the diarist is white like you, all this;
Do you have my supply of race cards?  Because while you get to allege racism, only whites get to allege the race card has been played, which, in case you haven't noticed, negates your racism charge and totally takes away your claim to victimhood
just demonstrates for us the mental workings of a sick sad little racist.

White like me? (none / 0)

Nice guess.  But diarist saying leave characterizations to the "victims" seems to be a poor word choice.  Heard enough about victims to last a lifetime.

Too be totaly real... (none / 0)

it's the internet, I don't know anything about you.  For that matter you could be a cleaver Turing program.  So I don't really know if you are white or not, but this seemed a big clue only whites get to allege the race card has been played.  Imagine if you will my thumb and fore finger rubbing together, do you know what that is?  It's the worlds smallest violin playing "My Heart Bleeds For You" that's more sympathy than you deserve for having heard enough about victims to last a lifetime, hopefully yours won't take a lot longer.

Re: I don't get to tell you what rape is... (2.00 / 1)

Despite being a former Clinton supporter, I'm with you, BlogSurrogate.  I am reccing this.

I have a diary that I have been too afraid to post.  No it doesn't say a single bad word about Obama or his supporters.

What it's based on is a recent suit by an African American woman, Mauricia Grant who had been a NASCAR employee, who recently sued NASCAR for $250,000,000.00 for systemic racism and sexism.  Her suit breaks down the offenses of NASCAR employees into Sexist (23 counts) and Racist (43 counts).  I figure Ms. Grant & her lawyers are experts on this subject-she has actually experienced both racism and sexism.

The diary uses her suit as proof of what things you can do or say, as a sexist, or as a racist, or both, that will get you sued.

The language used, especially by the enablers and excusers of NASCAR's behavior, is remarkably similar whether they are defending racism or sexism.

Some of that language has been used here and some has been used in the campaign.

We all need to learn to listen better, I think.  I don't know whether people are ready to hear this message yet, though.

It hasn't hit the rec list yet.

And the "purity for Clinton" trolls haven't hit yet either, so I guess somebody must be listening.

Well I like you (2.00 / 1)

Pleased to meet you Rising_Tide surrogate.

If I ever get the guts to post that diary, I hope you comment, because on the racist side, I'm leaving Ms. Grant and the NASCAR pukes to speak for themselves, exactly because I am not an expert on what's racist-I'd like someone who has more experience & knowledge to add details & comment.

As a 61 year old woman, I am qualified to comment on the sexist stuff myself as I remember back in the day when sexists were unrestrained.

In fact, they even celebrated it song back then:

For example, Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, 1964 film, 1956 Broadway Musical (Song A Hymn to Him)

Women are irrational, that's all there is to that!
Their heads are full of cotton, hay, and rags!
They're nothing but exasperating, irritating,
vacillating, calculating, agitating,
Maddening and infuriating hags!

The role of women in the 1967 movie, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (based on the 1952 Broadway musical)

From the song "Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm"

Oh, to be loved by a man I respect;
To bask in the glow of his perfectly understandable neglect.
Oh, to belong in the aura of his frown--darling busy frown.
Such heaven--wearing the wifely uniform
While he goes onward and upward.
Happy to keep his dinner warm
Till he comes wearily home from down town.

and the trolls don't!

Yeah, I'm actually white too. but I'd be glad to comment, as I'm trying to get more of a handle on what other people think about things.

And I've heard stories about what it was like to be the only A student in a class... and be a woman, in the times when there wasn't a girl's restroom.

Re: *giggle* I'm glad you like me (2.00 / 1)

That was me all right--however, I wasn't the only A student, but I was one of them.  And there sure the heck was no bathroom for women in the math building.  It was part of why I switched from math to physics.  A long and silly story I won't bother you with.

Whether you're trying to be provocative or not, I think you made an important point.

Re: I don't get to tell you what rape is... (none / 0)

I am rich. Richer every day in fact. I was born  that way, so it was no more a choice for me than gender or race is for anybody.
I get a lot of grief for it. You wouldn't believe some of the names I've been called in my life.
No one who is not in my position should judge me - because they know nothing about it. More money only brings more trouble.

using said money on?

If you're a smart cookie (and not many trust fund babies are, regression toward the mean again), make your money any way you know how, and spend it RIGHT!

People tend to forget that after you reach a certain point, money doesn't matter.

'Course, you won't be gettin much sympathy from me if you're running a 100K per year lifestyle.

You could save 25 THOUSAND children from a premature death. Per Year. For the 'extra' you spend on yourself.

Re: I don't get to tell you what rape is... (none / 0)

Something is wrong with the date stamp system at MyDD! This diary says it was started Aug. 6 2008. But that can't be right. Shouldn't it be May 6, 2008, when the primary was still going on? I admit to feeling a bit of nostolgia beating this dead horse again, but we've got an election to win.
