Don't give 'em what they want: No Hillary for VicePresident

Were you paying attention?

Do you remember the muckrakers the Republicans had hired to derail the Clinton Express? Rush Limbaugh was cackling with glee at his revived career.

Hillary spent since 2001 preparing for this election. You think the Republicans didn't? They prepared for Clinton. They wanted Clinton, because let's face it -- they aren't exactly the fastest people on their feet.

Could Hillary Rodham Clinton have won the general election? No doubt about it. Just like there's no doubt that Obama will win this one.

So let's enjoy laughing in the Republicans' faces. They are pissed as hell that Clinton didn't win, that they didn't have the fight they wanted (not that they could win that anyway!).

If sane reasons won't convince y'all, then take this. Don't let them have their cake and eat it too.

First Do No Harm.

I am a committed Obama supporter -- who thinks he's an asshole. I don't like his personality, and I'm more of a fighter than he is! I would have cheerfully voted for Hillary -- but it was Obama's support from the Hopefuls that swayed me to his cause.

Because I'm here for the movement. I'm here to change Washington so utterly that we won't even remember it anymore. End the Gilded Age, for once and for all. Through monetary representation, since that is all that the politicians understand.

No More Favors.

Hillary Clinton choose Wall Street (err... New York) as her constituency for a reason. She was planning her presidential bid, and New York had most of the money she'd need to get it rolling.

Problem is, the New York money wanted favors, obligations owed, etc. That's how they're used to doing it -- they've done it since way way back. And I don't like it.

You shouldn't either.

You shouldn't like the idea that someone needs to kiss rich folks ass every four years to get elected. Or two. Imagine, if that rich folk asked you to do something. You'd hop straight to it, since he contributes so much to keeping you there.

The only thing the rich need to ask for is something that doesn't represent your district. In short, a bad idea. Give away free money? Bad idea. Insert a tax break? Bad idea.

The list goes on.

Not knocking Clinton or her team -- this was the ONLY way they could think of. Dean flamed out, remember? Obama's team saw it differently -- and because of that visionary mindset, they were able to make a new campaign.

Can I vote for a campaign? For a movement?

In a word: Yes.

And that is why I don't want Clinton as Veep. I know she's inspiring and a fighter, and I would have cheerfully voted her into the Oval Office. But not Veep.

It ain't nice to say, but it's true.

Re: Don't give 'em what they want: No (2.00 / 2)

These VP diaries are getting a little tedious.  Obama's supposedly made his decision already, so all of these arguments are beside the point.

Re: Don't give 'em what they want: No (2.00 / 3)

Well, then, get ready for the 50+ diaries from the Clinton crowd trashing whomever Obama picks (unless Hillary.)

Maybe 75+?  I think it's going to be an avalance....

Re: Don't give 'em what they want: No Hillary for (1.75 / 4)

Obama is in dire danger of losing this election.

If you don't see it I probably can't convince you in a short time but he knows it and if he picks anyone but Hillary or Powell you will shortly know it too.

Being up 3% months out is not winning.

Since when is being ahead not being ahead...Ah yes, in troll world...I don't care for this diary much, but your intellectual dishonesty and hackery can not go unchallenged. PS., every state by state poll has the only states within the margin of error to be usual red ones except occassionally Mich, so who is ahead?

Re: Don't give 'em what they want: No Hillary for (2.00 / 3)

The myth of Hillary as the Wall Street candidate is one that was put to bed long ago.  I work on Wall Street and there's been equal levels of support for Clinton and Obama for a long, long time now.

you're misreading me (2.00 / 1)

which is my fault, as always.

She was making a play for wall street, vis a vis Giuliani or Romney, both of whom she might have to fight in the general.

I don't think she really planned for a primary, as that was supposed to be the easy part. (we're talking pre 2006 here).

What's the breeze you get from Wall Street? Is it still mostly old Clinton hands on the Clinton side, and mostly anti-Clinton hands on the Obama side? (glad to have ears on the ground!)

Flame Retardant Suit (2.00 / 3)

You'll need it.

It's not going to be a discussion IMHO, but a blood letting screed-fest.

Pick you posters, you know who they are.  I would say probably 20-30% of the posters here have been saying ONE thing only for the last 2 months: Hillary MUST be VP.

It's going to be a traffic jam of diaries, pronouncing Obama's doom, his betrayal of 18 million voters, it almost writes itself at this point....

Re: dare you to write a snark diary (none / 0)

Unfortuately, I think the Snark Diary and the Real Diaries are going to be mirrors, I can just imagine what some of these folks are going to write.

Really, I think they ought to just scream "Arrghhhgg" and fill the rest with profanties?

Cause, what ever they say, they have said already.

Most of them have made their threats to jump to McCain crystal clear, so we don't need confirmation.

We KNOW why they will argue that Obama is now doomed (again, he is already DOOMED in their eyes...)

I hope it's over quick, I give it two-three days of agony on the rec list.

Then, it will be interesting WHAT those folks post.

Do they even stay?

Most of them are only concern troll diarists at this point, or sweep in to defend Bill and Hill?

They really have no place to go, the die is cast really for all of us.

I will probably be pissed if he doesn't pick Wes, Hillary or Biden...

I will shake my head at Sebelius or Kaine in this current political environment.

I will throw up in the nearest garbage can if he goes Evan Bayh.

Then, after a couple of days, I will again realize there is no option.

Just letting McCain appoint another generation of appeals court judges straight from the Federalist Society incubator, let alone replace Ginsburg and Stevens makes this beyond a no-brainer for anyone that isn't crippled by bitterness from the primaries.

You obviously don't understand. No matter what this country has to go through in the next four years and no matter how long it takes to recover, it will be worth it just to be able to say "I told you so."

Re: Flame Retardant Suit (2.00 / 1)

Keep in mind that before that it was Hillary MUST be the nominee.

My guess is, each time they don't get what they want, a relatively insignificant number of them run off to McCain, while the rest manage to cool down and realize that not voting for the better candidate out of anger (or handsomegent's favorite word, "vengeance") is silly. I'm honestly hoping Barack picks up in the polls soon just so that these people will shut up for a while.

I almost wish Obama would have Hillary introduce the VP pick if it's not her. Seriously. It would at least blunt the fervor of the anybody-named-Clinton crowd if she extols the virtues of the pick.

My take is opposite, can you imagine the abject horror if Senator Clinton were to introduce Sebelius as VP?

You've seen the posters here, they would have a coronary!

My God, Larry would morph INTO the Whitey Tape, like that movie VideoDrome if Hillary introduced Sebelius!

How do you figure that?

What about Wed Night makes is a slight to Hillary?

It's more of a slight that Wes Clark is NOT speaking that night, Securing our National Security?

Look, I know in your heliocentric world, everything is about the Clintons, but, really, can you explain how this is an intentional slight?
