Ohioans react to McCain saying their economic problems are just "psychological" (video)

Watch the VideoJohn McCain was in Ohio yesterday and again he did not present any real plans to alleviate the economic problems facing Ohio's working families. McCain believes that the problems you face everyday - from skyrocketing gasoline prices to rising mortgage rates - are all in your head.

Here's exactly what McCain said while discussing gas prices and economic hardships: "A lot of our problems today, as you know, are psychological - confidence, trust, uncertainty about our economic future, ability to keep our own home."

That our country's problems are merely "psychological" was news to us, so  we hit the streets to see what real Ohioans thought about McCain dismissing the real problems they face day to day.

Here is what a couple people we talked to had to say:

"McCain needs to come out of wherever he is campaigning and talk to average people on the street - it's not psychological at all."

"I just think John McCain is out of touch with the average American - I don't think he has a clue."

The people we talked to had a lot of great things to say. Click here to see what they thought of McCain's remarks and how the economy is affecting their lives. Needless to say, the Ohioans we talked to were pretty angry with John McCain's remarks. And they should be.

They are tired of Republican leadership that ignores and dismisses their problems -while giving huge tax breaks to the rich. They want their voices heard - voices of average Ohioans, not the Washington lobbyists.

Click here to see what Ohioans like you thought about McCain's lack of compassion for their economic hardships.

And if you like what you see, forward this email to your friends.

John McCain. The more you learn, the more you see he's just more of the same.

I'm not surprised... the only thing that surprises me is that people keep thinking he is a strong candidate... he really isn't.

McCain/Palin... even scarier than Bush/Cheney... and that's saying something!

This kind of belief system is MANDATORY for right (none / 0)

wingers because if they admitted that Americans are losing their jobs for any other reason than THEIR OWN FAULT, then it would demand some kind of ACTION. And of course, that would be against their whole philosophy. Its not going to happen.

This kind of repeated insistence that a is really b despite all evidence to the contrary is part of a set of behaviors called "milieu control" and they are basically a form of cult behavior.

Rationalizing away preventable tragedy is a classic form of it.

Its like the British preachers who said that the Irish Potato Famine was God's justice, or Darwinistic justice (pick your poison) the right in America today MUST believe that rich people are rich because they are better, (not because they were lucky to be born with advantages) and that poor people are poor not because of bad schools or growing up in violence, or a lifetime of extreme life-threatening stress, or lack of access to even the most basic educational resources or healthcare, no, poor people are poor BECAUSE THEY ARE FLAWED. Therefore, its pointless to try to help them. In fact, all aid for poor people is wrong.

See what I am getting at?

Thinking that poor people should be helped is the first step to damnation to many right wing people.

If they started thinking about those things then God knows what would happen.. the battle would be LOST for them. They would be ostracized by their friends and colleagues. Driven away.

Sound a little bit nuts? It is - but if you point it out to them, get ready, they will attack you viciously.

Its because they subconsciously know that they are weak. The scary and also intriguing thing about these FRAGILE belief systems is that they are based on a whole chain of false assumptions that are VERY high maintenance.

The right would be COOKED if it was not for their MASSIVE echo chamber, which depends on a very large number of right wing operatives who go out and maintain the web of lies by any means possible. They attack people who point out its weaknesses and one of the MOST important criteria for membership in their 'club' as it were is a willingness to lie to cover up the truth whenever it rears its nasty little head.

By the way, if you think this thought process is kind of interesting, there is a lot of stuff on cults that shows how INCREDIBLY CATASTROPHIC the aftermath is when these belief systems collapse.

Look at Hitler, and nazism, for example, A more destructive cult has arguably never existed.

If Hitler had, instead of maintained the correctness of his core principles to te bitter end, had been more pragmatic, he might have been more successful. Instead, he went to a firey end in the Battle of Berlin.

Cults always try to maintain this 'information blockade' - its one of their identifying characteristics.

If you want to see the most extreme examples of this kind of mindset, look at North Korea and how incredibly elaborate the state propaganda machine there is.

Its like something out of a very bad movie.

The 'insiders' or 'true believers' vs the 'support (none / 0)

Another VERY interesting distinction is that between the 'insiders' or 'true believers' vs the 'supporters' who often don't realize that the inner group exists and does not believe its 'public face'.

The insiders in cults often go to the firing squad determined to show their loyalty to the group, even when they are being sacrificed. Because the machine HAS t eat its own young.

Their insider status is worth more than gold to them. (actually, in these movements, typically, money is held in disdain, its not about money, its about POWER)

Now that is DEVOTION.

One of the reasons the right HATES clinton is (none / 0)

because Bill Clinton committed the Cardinal Sin of APOLOGIZING for US support of death squads in Latin America (and many other similar sins of that nature, which he really didn't have much choice on because THE EVIDENCE ON THOSE THINGS WAS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE)

There is a very good book out there called "When Presidents Lie" that talks about a number of the big lies that have been fed to the American public and their ramifications and possible motives.. Its very much worth readng..

Some of them are REALLY big. so big that they are scary to this day..

welcome to the rabbit hole..

I know it's never good to get overconfident, but someone remind me why we're worried about losing to this man?
